BROMSGROVE Ladies A team stepped up their title challenge in Division One of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire League after whitewashing Manor Park (Malvern).
The comprehensive 6-0 victory leaves second-placed Bromsgrove eight points behind leaders Stourbridge A.
None of the three pairs of Jen Law with Rachael Mack, Tina Manning with Sally Franks, and Jilly Witcomb with Imogen Sinclair dropped a set in a match always controlled by Bromsgrove.
Captain Sally Franks said: “It was a great victory to give us maximum points and maintain our challenge at the top of the division.”
Father and son duo Roger and Duncan Lewis led the way as the Men’s E team eased to an 5-1 win at home to Bewdley F in Division Eight.
The Lewises won both their encounters comfortably in two sets as did Bruce Tanner playing with Jack Walters. Aaron Oakes with Paul Jubb lost their opening contest but came back strongly to win their second.
The Men’s D Team were edged out by Hagley A team in the closest of matches, losing 58-59 in games with rubbers and sets equal.
Each pair of John Dudek with John Casey, Mark Blake with Trevor Errington, and Mel McGregor with Chris Hands won one and lost one rubber.
The Ladies D team were also involved in another close-fought match, being pipped on sets by visitors Pershore C after it ended 3-3 on rubbers.
Lesley Hodson with Ros Cooke led the way, winning both their contests. Cynthia Colley with Catherine Maund had a win and a loss whilst Sue Murray with Sarah Davies lost both their matches.
