ALVECHURCH will meet Bromsgrove Sporting in the final of the Worcestershire Senior Urn following a 9-8 penalty shoot-out victory over Highgate United.
Rouslers boss Paul Smith will face his former side on Wednesday, April 13 for a 7.45pm kick-off at Evesham United’s Jubilee Stadium.
The all Midland League Premier Division tie saw Highate United take the lead after 23 minutes courtesy of Lee Brown but in the dying embers of the game, Alvechurch equalised through Connor Deards to send the tie straight to penalties.
In a nerve-wracking shootout, Alvechurch kept their cool to close out a 9-8 victory.
Paul Smith said: “I am really excited to play Alvechurch in the final.
“I spent a long time there and played a couple of hundred games for the club so it’s a great tie.
“We’ll be going into the tie as huge underdogs as they are at the top of the division above.
“However, if we play well I am sure we can cause problems and turn them over in a one-off game.”
