THOMAS BROTHERS became the third different team to get their name on the Bromsgrove & District Football League Premier Division trophy since its inception in the 2011/12 season as they sealed the title in dramatic style.

Brothers were crowned champions thanks to a dramatic 3-2 victory over reigning champions Victoria Barnt Green Fairfield, for whom two defeats inside four days ended their challenge for top spot.

Ryan Molesworth and Dan Wilkes were on the mark for VBGF but goals from Stuart Hall, Rob Burkus and Kelvin White ensured Brothers were crowned top dogs.

The team then put the seal on a fine season with a 3-2 victory over Worcester outfit WCT Youth Raiders in their final game on Sunday, when they were presented with the trophy.

The race for the Division One title is hotting up as Bartley Green Illey Sunday claimed a comprehensive 9-1 victory over Spa Athletic thanks to braces from Connor Collins, Dominic Strevens and Bradley Bullimore and one apiece for Dan Lawrence, Carl Martin and Colin Tandy.

Bartley Green sit eight points off leaders Northfield Athletic but can clinch the title if they win their remaining four games of the season.

The league leaders maintained the pressure on Bartley Green as they ran out 8-1 winners over AFC Northfield courtesy of four goals from Joshua Moore, two from Jason Cowley and one each for Reiss Brians and Gary Ross.

Conway Albion enjoyed a 2-1 victory over Wychbold RBL while Stoke Sporting claimed a 3-1 victory at Sporting Rednal.

Jon Snell, Simon Steele and Curtis Smith netted for Sporting; Russell Brooks for Rednal.

Division Two leaders Meadow Park only need a point from their remaining five games to secure the title after beating Hizza United in a double-header 1-0 and 3-0 respectively.

In another double thriller Chaps United and Bridgfield served up 15 goals as the pair drew 5-5 in their first encounter before United ran out 4-1 winners in the second.

Jordan Ward (3), Luke Hancock and Sam Valentine netted for Bridgfield in the 5-5 draw while Paul Dowsett bagged all four of United’s goals in the reverse fixture.

Rednal Social Club enjoyed a 6-0 victory at Awkies Allstars while the other game in the division saw Rubery Juniors defeat Sporting Club Redditch 3-0 thanks to two goals from Jordan Peach and one from Connor Chipman.

In Division Three, Rubery have all but secured the title after they thrashed Stoke Prior 9-1 courtesy of seven goals from star man Brogan Halpin and one each from Paddy Behan and Martin Slevin.

Callowbrook Swifts Green, who sit three points behind but have a far inferiror goal difference will end the season in second after they secured a 4-2 victory at FC Bromsgrove.
