Boswell mixes it with the best

SPORTS massage therapist Sam Boswell pushed some of the best duathletes in the world in Worcester last weekend.

With the current European and World Duathlon champion taking part in the event, Boswell had it all to do to get in the mix for the top prize.

But Boswell, sponsored by Elliott Nash Ltd, rose to the occasion on the Worcester course, which included a 10K run followed by a 25K bike and then another 5K run.

She was first back in after the first 10K and retained the lead on the bike, but the Bromsgrove ace took a wrong turn just before the second transition, costing her around 20 seconds.

This slip up saw her fall back behind the World Champion, but Boswell worked hard on the final 5K run to pull back the lead, placing her first woman overall.

The event also included the Worcester 10K won by Jo Pavey who also stayed on after winning her race to present the prizes for the Duathlon.

Boswell said: “I have not raced Duathlon for years and forgot how hard they are. But it was such an honour to meet Jo Pavey, she is such an inspiration and a genuinely lovely lady.

“The run route was lovely with some great views of the river and the event well organised, the highlight of the day for me apart from taking the win was meeting Jo.”
