Barnt Green produce 'perfect tie'

ONE OF the rarest of scorelines was seen at Barnt Green Tennis Club as their Men’s A team and Stourbridge A could not be separated by sets or games after finishing 4-4.

Club champion Paul Cowie and multiple World Transplant title-winner Paul Bill played some scintillating tennis to win both of their matches.

The big-hitting James Hodges and the club mixed doubles runner-up James Flynn were unable to back up their results, but they managed to do enough to win their first points of the season.

Despite their battling performances, though, Green will be disappointed not to have secured what could prove to be an invaluable winning draw in Division One of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Winter League.

Meanwhile, the club’s Ladies A team left Cutnall Green thinking what might have been as they came away with a losing draw from their opening Division Two clash.

The first pairing of Jane Hampson and Rachel Scott won both their matches comfortably, but Megan Resse and Beth Harris lost both of theirs and they could not quite scrape together enough to secure a positive result.
