AVONCROFT lost their second game of the season after they succumbed to an eight-wicket defeat to Kempsey in Division Three of the Worcestershire County League.
Having won the toss and elected to bat, Avoncroft got off to a bad start as they lost opener Chris Pitt for a poultry six runs.
The in-form David James (24) quickly followed after trying to steady the ship before Will Sach (12), Craig Hughes (13) and Jonty Heslop were sent packing.
Josh Cound was holding Avoncroft’s innings together before he finally fell for a stubborn 29 following his promotion front the Seconds.
The experienced pair of club coach Pete Jukes and Paul Athey put together a good partnership before Athey departed for 13.
Andy Pittman (5) followed shortly after before Jukes was dismissed for 23.
The final wicket of James Bunn (4) meant Avoncroft were dismissed for a below par 183 in 43 overs.
With Kempsey in bat, Athey got Avoncroft off to a good start by dismissing Joe Worthington (9) – taking the middle stump clean out of the ground.
However a big partnership Tristan Robinson and captain Samuel O’Neill put Kempsey in control before Hughes bowled Robinson out for 96 with an lbw.
O’Neill saw his side home without further trouble, finishing on 58 not out with Kempsey reaching 184-2.
Avoncroft hope to return to winning ways this Saturday when they entertain Himbleton.
