A YOUNG Bromsgrove Laureate has wowed judges with his skills and made it into the regional finals of a poetry competition.
Pavel Poloskin from Bromsgrove School went up against 29 students from across the county and won the Hereford and Worcester Poetry by Heart competition.
Each competitor had to recite two poems along with a First World War piece.
The event was organised by Worcestershire Schools’ Library Service and was judged by two young former competitors Ella and Jamie.
In the regional finals Pavel will have to go up against the region’s best in a showdown which will be judged by Sir Andrew Motion.
Coun Lucy Hodgson said: “This competition has become a standard fixture in the Library Service calendar and is a perfect complement to the resources our libraries offer.
“The standard of the young contenders was exceptional as was the support of the schools and parents on the night.”
