A BROMSGROVE girl with type one diabetes was given the chance to address Parliament about the condition, thanks to MP Sajid Javid.

Rebekah Lane, ten, spoke about the importance of continuing research into diabetes and all it entailed, along with raising awareness.

The Government has prioritised diabetes as part of its 2016/17 mandate to NHS England.

It is hoping to use this information to improve the outcomes for people with or at risk and will focus on both type one and type two diabetes.

Mr Javid said: “I was very impressed with Rebekah’s determination and positivity – she’s an absolute champion.

“I am pleased the Government is similarly determined to tackle diabetes so diagnosis is faster and treatment outcomes are improved for people like Rebekah.

“Diabetes affects many people in Bromsgrove, so it was helpful to discuss Rebekah’s thoughts on it, particularly for young people.”
