Worcestershire Hospitals report into bullying is 'branded disgraceful'

MEMBERS of campaign group Betrayed By Their Trust (BBTT) have branded the Good Governance Institute report on bullying at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Trust as ‘disgraceful’.

The findings of the report were released during an extraordinary meeting at Worcester Royal last Thursday (August 27) and were met with scenes of outrage and disbelief from the BBTT.

Nigel Gilbert, chair of the group, said: “All those involved in the final version of this report should hang their heads in shame.

“The report is bland and it is not possible for anyone reading it to understand the specific acts of abuse which lie behind the generalities of the quotes and comments.”

Group members plan to meet shortly to discuss the report in more detail and plan to contact all the county’s MPs and trade unions.

The BBTT are also raising concerns regarding the alleged abuse of radiography staff.

Nigel added: “No one can tell that the alleged abuse of radiography staff was reported and that they are facing impossible pressures to examine X-rays and MRI scans.

“This is a matter of public interest, but it is being suppressed.”

The group has branded the report a cover-up and are voicing concerns with the Trust’s decision to ‘draw a line under what has happened in the past’.
