Warning to drivers after Alvechurch car-jacking

Bromsgrove Editorial 27th Aug, 2014 Updated: 17th Oct, 2016   0

A DRIVER was pulled to the ground and had his vehicle stolen after he pulled over into a lay-by near Alvechurch.

The car jacking took place about 9.45pm last Monday (August 18) when the 42-year-old man was driving along the Redditch Road.

Another car flashed him from behind and the man drove into the lay-by, followed by the other vehicle.

A woman got out of the car and told the victim his lights were not working.

He was then grabbed by the hood of his top by another person, thought to be a man and it was then he was pulled to the floor.

His keys were taken from his hands and his blue Mercedes was driven off by the attackers.

Because the lay-by was unlit at the time the victim was not able to describe the suspects.

Det Con Matt Archer from West Mercia Police said: “We are taking this incident incredibly seriously as the car was taken by force from the victim in a calculated way.

“We have managed to recover the stolen car but are keen to make the public aware of the incident to prevent it from happening to others.”

Anyone with any information is urged to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
