Volunteers wanted by charity which helps Worcestershire's vulnerable

A WORCESTERSHIRE charity is calling out for volunteers to help support vulnerable local people across the area.

Onside, an independent charity offering advocacy, mentoring and friendship is encouraging members of the community to get involved.

The idea is to provide support to those who would otherwise be socially isolated by visiting them at home or

encouraging social integration through community-based activities. Volunteering at Onside does not involve domestic or personal care.

The charity’s volunteer manager Claire Watkins said: “Our volunteers give their time, their passion and enthusiasm.

“We need continued help from willing volunteers who would enjoy supporting people in their local community.”

She added volunteers were ordinary people of all ages and backgrounds with good listening skills and time to spare.

Elizabeth, who has been volunteering with the charity since her retirement, said she would urge anyone thinking of giving up their time for the charity to do so.

“It’s a wonderful feeling when you know you’ve helped and made even a small difference to someone else’s life.”

She added she wanted to give something back and volunteering with such a worthwhile organisation had enabled her to do so.

The charity provides free training throughout the year and will cover expenses.

To volunteer with the charity, call Claire Watkins on 01905 27525 or email [email protected] to find out more.
