THE MEETING place of Bromsgrove’s oldest scout group has been given a brand new look, thanks to the hard work of volunteers.
Leaders, helpers and other volunteers from 1st Bromsgrove Scout Group gave up a weekend to revamp their meeting place, giving it a new coat of paint ready for the spring term.
As well as the group being over a century old, it now has the newest Bromsgrove Group – the 9th Bromsgrove Scouts.
Volunteers are at the heart of the organisation – from running the evening meeting nights and camps for the boys and girls to all the fund-raising and maintenance of buildings and equipment.
A spokesperson for the 1st Bromsgrove Scouts said the group would like to thank Morrisons for letting them fund-raise there recently and to all the shoppers who contributed by donating an impressive £848.
Some of the cash is going towards improving the group’s headquarters on Charford Road.
The group is also looking for volunteers to help with other jobs such as laying slabs outside the building.
Anyone interested in supporting scouting locally, either as a leader or behind the scenes, such as maintenance tasks or administration, should email [email protected] or call Cassie on 01527 877059.
