MORE volunteers are needed to train as Specials across Warwickshire Police and West Mercia Police.
Special Constables are fully trained, uniformed, warranted volunteers who give up a minimum of 16 hours each month to help police local communities. They work alongside regular police officers as part of the forces Safer Neighbourhood Teams.
Assistant Chief Constable Gareth Morgan, responsible for the Special Constabulary across the two police forces, said: “We are looking for more volunteers to help protect people from harm.
“It is a big commitment but the rewards are plentiful. You will learn all about policing, meet new people, give something back to your community, enjoy new experiences and learn new skills. Not to mention facing real life challenges that will make you discover new things about yourself and just how much you are capable of.
“We’re looking for team players willing to learn new skills.”
Anyone interested should check out a new video, developed by both forces. The video, which looks at the role of the Specials, can be seen at http://youtu.be/T4QOykJMSuE.
