YOUNGSTERS from Charford First School have been putting their creative talents to the test to brighten up the vans used by Bromsgrove District Housing Trust (bdht).

More than 70 children from year two entered the competition and bdht staff voted on the designs they liked the best.

Then, from a shortlist of 20 designs, three were chosen to be added to the backs of the vans and can be seen driving around the district.

The designs by Lily, Holly and Isabelle were selected as they most depicted the importance of family and the home.

bdht has given Charford First School a contribution towards arts and crafts materials, the top three children received a £20 book voucher and the other 17 in the shortlist received £10 book vouchers.

Headteacher Anita McLaren said the school was delighted to be involved in the project.

“It is important the children feel proud of their community, and they will be extremely proud seeing their artwork being driven around Bromsgrove.

“I wouldn’t mind being stuck in a traffic jam behind one of these vans – they’re amazing.”

Mike Brown, bdht’s chief executive, said: “Vincent Van Gogh, Picasso and Leonardo Da Vinci had nothing on these children.”
