HEARTLESS vandals have dismantled sections of a popular children’s play area in Rubery, just a week before the school summer holidays.

The incident happened over the weekend and the park will be closed whilst officers repair the damage caused.

Bromsgrove District Council’s portfolio-holder for leisure, Coun Rod Laight, added: “We are exceptionally disappointed that someone could be so heartless to vandalise a play area.

“We are sorry to have to close the park this morning but we cannot risk the safety of our residents after the mess that has been left by the vandals.

“It is extremely upsetting that this has happened and we thank residents for their patience while it is being fixed.

“On a brighter note, I am pleased that our officers are already on the case to sort the problem as soon as possible.”
