RESIDENTS wanting to have their antiques valued can get them looked at by a professional and raise cash for a good cause at the same time.

An antique valuation day, featuring Nick Davies from the BBC’s Going…Going…Gone, will take place at Bromsgrove’s Life After Stroke Centre, Church Lane, on September 17.

The event, from 10am to 2pm, will be done in the style of the popular TV show.

Those who go along will be asked to pay £1 for each item they have valued and will each be able to have a maximum of four items examined.

It has been organised in conjunction with Fieldings Auctioneers and Thomas Horton LLP Solicitors.

Claire Benfield, The Stroke Association’s West Midlands regional fund-raiser, said it promised to be an exciting event and was a fantastic way for residents to do something a little bit special for the charity.

“Everyone taking part will be helping raise funds for stroke survivors, their families and carers.

“We are encouraging residents to come along, seek out those treasures from their homes, and let our team of valuers including Nick Davies, valuate them in the hope we can find a million, or even billion pound piece.

“Whether its artwork, watches or ornaments please do bring them along on the day.”

Mr Davies said he was thrilled to have been invited to the Life after Stroke Centre to meet the community and help a charity which was close to his heart.

“Five years ago my father-in-law had a devastating stroke, so I know the impact stroke can have on someone’s life.

“I’m really happy to be supporting the Stroke Association which is there for stroke survivors and their families.

“Please do come along and bring your antiques, and I will look forward to valuating them.” he said.

Those wanting more information on the valuation day can call Claire Benfield on 01527 903501.
