HEART-FELT tributes have been paid to a Bromsgrove teenager who died after being in collision with a car on Tuesday night (May 13).

The incident, involving 17-year-old Samuel Chambers, happened at 10.20pm at the junction of the A38 and New Road.

The teenager suffered severe head injuries and, despite the best efforts by ambulance staff, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Those who knew the former South Bromsgrove High School student took to our Facebook page to leave their tributes and on Wednesday night (May 14), young people who knew him gathered at the spot where the incident happened to remember him and lay flowers. There was also a chef’s hat, bearing signatures, left at the scene as Sam worked as a chef at the Bromsgrove Harvester.

One of the messages left with the flowers stated: “Dear Sam, you were the nicest most loyal lad I’ve ever met. Forever missed, love you brother, Jack Kirk.”

Another of the cards, from Nancy, said she could not believe he had gone and described him as ‘the kindest funniest and craziest lad she had ever known’.

“We’ll never forget you Sam. You were truly amazing and my thoughts go out to Hannah and all your family. Good Bless. Nancy,” it read.

Another one said: “Dear Sam, taken too early, a lovely young man. So polite and well mannered. We are honoured to have known you. Goodnight and God bless sweetie. Jackie and John, Andi’s mom and dad.”

Jackie Wheeler wrote on our Facebook page: “Such a wonderful young man, so sad, God bless, remembering a great day at Notting hill carnival, with you, thinking of your parents and family I am sure they are so proud of you, so polite, well mannered and great fun to be around. We are honoured to have known you.

God bless sweetie x.”

On Wednesday, Helen Coleman posted: “So sad seeing all the young people gathered at the A38/New Road junction this evening.

“May the young man who lost his life Rest in Peace knowing that he was loved by so many.”

Staff from the Forest Harvester also paid tribute to Sam through a statement which read: “Sam was a great kid, a hard worker and real pleasure to have in our team.

“He’d worked for us for around 12 months and had a promising future ahead of him.

“He will be missed by everyone.”

West Mercia Police have appealed for any witnesses or anyone with any information to call PC Sarah Skelding from the Operational Policing Unit on 101.

“This incident has tragically resulted in the death of a young man and our thoughts are with his family at this sad time for them.

“We need to establish the full circumstances of how this happened and therefore if anyone witnessed the collision or noticed either the teenager or the car involved immediately beforehand then please get in touch with us.” added PC Skelding.

Police confirmed the Worcestershire Coroner had been informed and said an inquest would be opened in due course.

The Toyota driver, who was from Redditch, was treated for shock, but he and the passenger suffered no further injuries.
