Thousands expected at Bromsgrove's Sanders Park bonfire

BROMSGROVE’S annual bonfire celebration in Sanders Park will this year feature a top U2 tribute act.

The event on Saturday (November 1) will get under way from 5pm, boasting a performance from U2UK, rides and other entertainment and food stalls, as well as the bonfire and fireworks.

Bromsgrove District Council is running the event in partnership with the Primrose Hospice which will benefit from a share of the proceeds.

Coun Mark Bullivant, who is responsible for leisure services, said: “Once again we’ve managed to set up an incredible line-up of entertainment for the bonfire event with something for everyone.

“Grab an umbrella and some wellies and come down whatever the weather.

“It’s all for a good cause and guaranteed to be fun.”

Helen Garfield, the Primrose Hospice’s chief executive, said the charity was pleased to be working again with the district council, as it had done so successfully on many occasions and on all sorts of projects.

“We would like to thank them for the support over the years and wish them every success for the forthcoming bonfire.”

Tickets, at £5 for adults, £3 for children or £14 for families (those under two go free), are available from the Primrose Hospice shops in Bromsgrove and Rubery and from the Customer Service Centre, School Drive.

They will also be available – weather permitting – from stalls in Bromsgrove High Street on Friday and Saturday (October 31 and November 1).

Tickets on sale at the gate will only be available for cash.

Kidderminster Road will be closed to traffic from 5pm to ensure the safety of the thousands expected.

Those who go along are urged to use the town centre car parks.
