THOUSANDS of people will descend on Belbroughton this weekend for the annual Scarecrow Festival.

The event – the 18th one to be held – will take place from 10.30am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday (September 26 and 27) and this year’s theme will be ‘Icons from history’.

As well as the scarecrows, there will be live entertainment, including Elvis and Rod Stewart tribute acts, dance displays, young people from Kidderminster College singing songs from Frozen, and the breath-taking Rich Goodwin Airshow.

There will also be bell-ringing, spire tours and a service in the church.

The festival’s chairperson Ian Pemberton said the event was aimed at providing a safe family day out which was great value and focused on the scarecrows.

“This year there will be more categories and more and bigger prizes for the scarecrows and building on the success of last year you don’t need to be a resident of the village to build a scarecrow and enter it into our competition.”
