Things are picking up in Wythall

MORE than 30 people have taken part in a community litter picks in Wythall, thanks to the area’s Phoenix Group.

The latest community drive, held on Tuesday (March 10) just a day before National No Smoking Day, also celebrated two new bins being installed, along with containers for cigarette butts.

Each clean up in the area has seen ten to 15 bags of rubbish collected.

Coun Mark Bullivant, from Bromsgrove District Council which installed the bins, said he was pleased to be working with the Phoenix Group again with its corporate social responsibility programme.

“It is only by working together with local people that we can identify problems and help residents.

“These small changes can really make a big difference to the community both locally and for the district as a whole.”

He added he hoped more businesses would come forward to set up similar projects.

Lucy Symonds, the Phoenix Group’s corporate responsibility manager, said: “It is great to see our CR initiatives are making a real difference to the Wythall community, and we look forward to a continued partnership with Bromsgrove District Council.”

Any businesses wanting to link up with the council to give something back to the community should call 01527 881188.
