THE PLAY area at Bromsgrove’s Recreation Ground near to the town’s Asda supermarket will undergo a revamp costing tens of thousands of pounds.

The brand new area will feature a selection of exciting urban-themed equipment which will be installed over the next four weeks so it will be ready to open in time for the school summer holidays.

The new area is being planned, delivered, and maintained by Bromsgrove District Council, using cash gained from Section 106 money contributed by developers.

The park will pay homage to Recreation Road’s recent history by including a ‘grand arch’ featuring references to a former local Drill Hall.

The wartime drill hall had stood on Recreation Road but after becoming dilapidated and failing to achieve listed status it was cleared by its owner to make way for the major redevelopment of that area that is now taking place.
