A TEENAGE girl has appeared in court over an attack on two schoolgirls in Northfield which was filmed and has since gone viral online.
The 16-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged with robbery and assault on Tuesday (July 14) and appeared at Birmingham Youth Courth on Wednesday (July 15).
She has pleaded guilty to the charges, but has not yet been sentenced.
She has been remanded into local authority care and will next appear at Birmingham Youth Court on August 3.
West Midlands Police, which has been investigating the incident, has urged anyone who has published or shared the video to remove it from their social media accounts.
Insp John Askew from Birmingham South Police, added: “We would also remind people, especially social media users, that reporting restrictions are in place and the name of the teenager cannot be reported.
“This could jeopardise future court proceedings.”
He added whilst the two victims were shaken, they were not seriously injured and were now recovering at home with the support of their families and friends.
