THERE are a variety of activities being held at Bromsgrove’s Artrix between now and the end of August.

The Summer Family Fun Festival is back with loads of creative sessions for those aged between four and 18.

Two week-long stage schools, being run by Out of the Box, will enable young performers to devise and rehearse a show which will be staged in the 300-seat theatre on the Friday evening.

Rock School runs from July 28 to August 1 and the Magic of Musicals takes place between August 11 and 15.

Sessions are held between 10am and 4pm daily for six to nine-year-olds and for ten to 17-year-olds.

Each course is £120 and those booking the first one can get the second for half-price.

Children aged between six and 11 can join Club Creative, a lively and fun holiday club being held between August 4 and 8.

There will be Sweetie Day, Jungle Day, Wonderland Day, Adventure Abroad Day and Time Machine Day, with youngsters being able to go on whichever days they want or even for the whole week.

The Family Fun Fridays are also back at Artrix this summer – between 10.30am and 3pm on August 1, 8, 15 and 22.

Those going along are urged to take a picnic and enjoy the a free craft table, free bouncy castle, face painting and different events and performances each week.

On the first Friday (August 1), there will be free balloon modelling with Magic Russ.

There will also be ceramic painting from 11am to 2pm which enables participants to paint a clay model. Tickets for that are £3.

Papercraft animals workshops – between 10am and 12.30am – are £5. Youngsters aged from eight to 12 can make a variety of animals, models and masks, before painting them and taking them home.

Pottery workshops with Hannah the Potter from Eastnor Pottery will run from 1.30pm to 2.30pm and between 3pm and 4pm. Tickets for that are £5.

Magic Russ takes to the stage from 10.30am to 11.30am in the studio. Tickets to see the marvellous magician and his cheeky friend Dave the Wonder Dog are £5 and the event is suitable for those aged between eight and 12.

The Steadfast Tin Soldier will be staged by StoryBox Theatre at 2.30pm. That centres around a little boy who is given 12 tin soldiers for Christmas – one is different and he embarks on an extraordinary journey. The spell-binding show features clockwork toys, hand-carved puppets, live music and atmospheric lighting and will delight the audiences. Tickets are £8 (£6 concessions) or £20 for a family ticket (two adults and two children or one adult and three children).

There are also a number of children’s films being shown at Artrix over the summer break – they include Maleficent, Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return, Postman Pat and How to Train Your Dragon 2.

Tickets are £6 (£5 for over 60s and £3 for under 16s).
