A GROUP of stroke survivors, their families and volunteers from the Wednesday Friends Group based at the Life After Stroke Centre in Bromsgrove enjoyed a canal boat trip on the Worcester and Birmingham Canal.

The trip, hosted by Anglo Welsh waterway holidays and the Bromsgrove Lions saw the group get to board the company’s boat Emma.

The journey lasted for two hours each, with the groups travelling to and from Alvechurch.

Johanna Hughes, from the Stroke Association, said: “A stroke can have a huge impact on someone’s life and our Wednesday Friends Group is an example of one of the peer support groups we provide.

“The group really demonstrates the power of stroke survivors and their families.”

Bromsgrove Lions president Keith Goodwin added: “It was a fantastic opportunity to step away from the stresses of everyday life and relax.”

Jonathan Nowell, manager at the Anglo Welsh Tardebigge base said the firm was delighted to be able to offer Emma for the trip.
