DID you see an oval shape with a dome covered in square panels in the sky on or around February 7?
That’s the incredible sight seen in the heavens by one Alvechurch resident and now local UFO hunter John Hanson is appealing for information to corroborate the report.
“The object was seen hovering a few feet away from an electrical sub station off Tanyard Close in the village, a facility which days later had its gate and cladding replaced,” said John, a retired detective chief inspector with West Midlands Police.
John, who lives in Alvechurch himself, said a screeching noise was heard at about 12.30 in the morning and a couple of days later, he was contacted by an elderly neighbour who said her son had seen something in the sky.
“I interviewed him – he said he’d looked out of his house and seen this shape in the sky, it was elliptical with a dome with square panelling and was only a few feet away. I’d now like to hear from anyone else who caught sight of it,” he said.
It may sound like something that straight out of an X-Files script but John is convinced it’s genuine.
“There have been other reports in Alvechurch in the past and in particular around Burcot so this would appear to be a genuine event,” he added.
John admits to having once been a UFO sceptic until, as a police officer, he attended an incident in Stirchley 1995 in which fellow officers reported seeing a UFO hovering over a copse of trees.
“At first I regarded it as a joke but it triggered my curiosity. I did some research and found I hadn’t realised how many sightings thee had been, so I set out to catalogue them and find the people who had seen them,” said John.
The result was 11 volumes of ‘Haunted Skies’ written by John and his partner Dawn Hollway, which is available through Amazon and which details UFO sitings across the globe.
“I keep an open mind, it’s something that fascinates me, there is somethng up there but what it is I do not know,” said John.
