Stamp of approval for Rubery post office

THE NEW Rubery Post Office was officially opened by Bromsgrove MP Sajid Javid last Friday (August 28).

Mr Javid, the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills cut the ribbon for the new-look modernised branch at 126 New Road.

The counter will offer Rubery residents increased opening hours and services from four counter positions.  One modern screened position, two open-plan counters and a combi-counter, where the Post Office terminal sits alongside the till.

The branch is open from 8am to 6pm Monday to Saturday – a weekly increase of more than 13 hours and a later Saturday afternoon service.




Among the services on offer will be bill paying, banking, postage, home shopping returns and local collect.

Speaking last Friday, Postmaster Devendra Kumar said he was delighted to be officially welcoming customers to the newly modernised branch which was being officially launched for the Rubery community.


“We hope our customers like their new Post Office and we would like to thank MP Sajid Javid for taking time from his busy schedule to come here today.

“We’d also like to thank the local community for their continued support and use of the branch.”

Mr Javid said: “I’m pleased to be here today to formally open the modernised Rubery Post Office and I would like to congratulate Devendra on his hard work, the branch looks great.

“The Post Office is vital to the community in this area and I’m sure the improved environment, and the longer opening hours, will be warmly welcomed by the community.”

Richard Hall, the Post Office’s public affairs manager, said he understood how important having a post office was to the people of Rubery, adding he was confident the new branch would meet the needs of the local community and safeguard services long-term.
