St John's new vicar is relishing new challenges

BROMSGROVE’S oldest church is to get a new vicar later this month.

Rev Ray Khan will be officially licensed at St John’s Church at 7.30pm on April 23.

Ray was a curate in the parish of Tamworth, in the Diocese, of Lichfield and, prior to his ordination, was a Church Army Evangelist for 19 years.

During that time he served inner city London and as candidate secretary for Church Army.

Ray said: “I am looking forward to meeting the people and organisations of Bromsgrove to work together to make the town a great place for all, to share joy, friendship and the possibilities that God can bring.”

Bromsgrove team rector, Rev Christine Holzapfel, said she was delighted he would be joining the team.

She said: “Ray is a talented minister and full of enthusiasm.

“I am sure we will benefit greatly from his ministry amongst us.”

Ray is married to Caroline and they have a son, Nathan, and a daughter, Bethany.
