A CHRISTMAS-themed hockey tournament is being held on Sunday (December 13) at Bromsgrove School.

The charity event, from 11.30am to 1pm is £10 for adults and £6 for juniors to enter with prizes for the best Christmas fancy dress.

There will be food at the club house afterwards.

The event will raise funds for the charity Springboard and has been organised by the charity’s youth programmes manager Sophie Green.

She is hoping to undertake a five-day trek in Peru next year.

It will take place in March and see her and other fellow trekkers travel from Mayan City to Machu Picchu. That will be followed by a three-day volunteering project, installing solar panels to a school without electricity, and teaching students English and computer skills.

Sophie told The Standard: “The trek will be challenging however having worked in the Hospitality Industry for a long time and still loving every minute of it, it’s time to give back to those that need it most.

“The money raised goes towards helping both those in Peru and here in the UK.”
