Sanders Park in Bromsgrove to host its first ever Step out for Stroke event

BROMSGROVE’S Sanders Park will hold its first ever Step out for Stroke event at Sanders Park on June 12.

The family friendly event is open to everyone – of all ages and abilities – and the organisers want people to sign up for it so they can stroll alongside stroke survivors and their families.

Step out for Stroke can be as long or as short as participants can manage and for many stroke survivors this challenge often marks their first steps since their stroke.

Louise Lawless, The Stroke Association’s community and events fund-raising manager, said: “We’re looking forward to seeing some truly inspirational people who will be taking their first steps since their stroke, and others who have challenged themselves to achieve new goals on the day.

“It’s a chance to raise vital funds for the Stroke Association, so every step makes a difference, and we want Step out for Stroke 2016 to be our biggest year yet.”

Last year 50 Step out for Stroke events in the UK raised £150,000 for the cause.

Event organiser Georgina Lawrence added: “Stroke happens in an instant but its effects can last a lifetime.

“Far too many people don’t understand the condition or think it will ever happen to them.”

She added everyone affected by stroke deserved the best support needed so they could make the best possible recovery.

“We’re inviting the whole community to come to this fun day out and help us make it an event to remember.”
