TWO former soldiers and members of Bromsgrove Rugby Club will attempt a Guinness world record for the longest ever rugby game.
Ian Riley and Ben Copson are organising the event to raise money for Scotty’s Little Soldiers charity.
The game between Bromsgrove Boars and Bromsgrove Barbarians kicks-off at midday on August 24th and ends on August 25 at Finstall Park, Bromsgrove.
To set a new world record the game must last a minimum of 24 hours and 52 minutes – roughly the same as 19 normal games.
Other events during the bank holiday weekend include family camping, bouncy castles, food, face painting and entertainment.
Organisers Ian Riley and Ben Copson said “The Scotty’s Little Soldiers charity is close to our hearts.
“As ex-soldiers and members of the wider rugby family, this is a perfect opportunity and challenge to try and set a new world record and raise money for a fantastic charity.
The game has been preceded by a Bromsgrove Rugby Club flag being taken to the summit of Mount Kilmanjaro by a group of military wives fund-raisers who were also raising funds for the charity.
