YOUNGSTERS in Rubery and the surrounding area got to try out a new play area at the weekend.

The Play at Brewers Fayre, themed on classic children’s comic the Beano and featuring characters Dennis the Menace and Minnie the Minx, has been installed at the Great Park pub.

The official launch was Sunday (August 2), although the area was opened the week before and, staff say, led to a record-breaking week for youngsters playing there.

Dennis the Menace was also in attendance on Sunday, meeting the youngsters and seeing what they thought of the new area.

The soft play, available from 9.30am to 8pm from Sunday to Thursday and between 9.30am and 9pm Friday to Saturday, is £3 for 90 minutes.

There is also a new toddler zone for little ones, an adventure tree house play area for older children and ‘The Den’ – a room which can host birthday parties.

Rick Leatherbarrow, the Great Park’s general manager, said he was incredibly pleased the pub had launched the new ‘Play At Brewers Fayre’.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming more families through our doors to enjoy the new facilities which are also perfect for kids parties,” he added.
