Rubery proves it has talent

THERE was plenty of talent on display at the latest creative contest to be held in Rubery.

Summer Smith, who provided a fantastic display of dance and acrobatics whilst dressed as a clown, won the under 11s category of Rubery’s Got Talent with singer Issy Young finishing second and Demi Wilkes and Jaimey Phillips finishing third.

‘Heavy juggler’ Dan Teplitski, accompanied by his dancers Christina and Georgia Kyriacou won the under 16s category at the event, which was held at Rubery Social Club. He gave a superb showing of juggling and balancing a heavy ball on a stick on his chin before climbing an open split ladder. Eboni Green was the runner up in the under 16s.

The over 16s was won by Dylan Hartnell with Alesi Summer the runner-up – that was so close there was just one point between them.

The winners will get to perform at this year’s Rubery Festival in St Chad’s Park on September 4.

Organiser Tony Maslen is looking for people to join the board and for people to help marshal the event.
