YOUNGSTERS from Jellybabies Nursery and Pre-School in Rubery had a literary-themed week in the run up to World Book Day.

The children were introduced to a new nursery rhyme and challenged to make up their own.

Jacqueline Walker, nursery and pre-school manager, said: “We appreciate young children respond to rhythm and repetition, books and rhymes also help children to learn new words and develop their language skills but above all books are a wonderful way for children to have fun and learn together.”

On Wednesday and Thursday, the youngsters and staff both went to school dressed as their favourite book characters.

The young bookworms were also given a £1 voucher towards the price of a book.
