A GROUP of more than 14 residents and three dogs took part in the Romsley parish’s four-mile new year walk around the village last Saturday.
It was led by Stuart Smith, the parish paths warden of Romsley and Hunnington.
It took participants from Romsley Hill to the Waseleys and the source of the river Rea before leading back to Romsley via several field paths.
Stuart said: “By sheer good luck the weather was kind with no rain and even a patch of blue sky put in a welcome appearance.
“As expected there was a good bit of mud, quite deep in places and one stretch which was more like walking along a stream than a footpath.
“Everyone had an enjoyable time in spite of the challenging conditions underfoot.”
