RESIDENTS on the Oakalls and Parklands estates held a litter pick as part of their Queen’s birthday commemorations.
Coun Caroline Spencer arranged for purple rubbish bags and pick-up tools for the event and then joined in with the clean-up.
The 13-strong group collected 17 bags of rubbish in 90 minutes, along with cigarette ends, bottles, cans and a few other bizarre items – a builder’s bucket, a deflated football and a kettle which had all been thrown into bushes.
The Clean for the Queen event was a big success in helping to reduce the amount of rubbish which litters the estate.
