Rednal man jailed for raping four women

A REDNAL man has been jailed for ten years after raping four women over a 16-year period.

John Dennis, of Toll House Road, was found guilty of rape and assault on April 17 at Birmingham Crown Court for a number of offences which took place between 1997 and 2013.

West Midlands Police launched an investigation in September 2013 when an allegation of rape was made by a Longbridge woman.

This prompted three more women from the area to come forward and report historic offences committed by the 43-year-old.

The force has praised the courage of the four victims for speaking out against the sex attacker.

Det Insp Ian Ingram said they did not underestimate how difficult it could be for victims of sex offences to report such a crime.

This was why they had a team of officers specially trained to deal with such sensitive situations and offer support and guidance to victims through out the process.

He added: “We always take reports of rape seriously and victims need not worry if offences occurred many years ago because we can still build compelling evidence against offenders.

“I’d like to thank the women who came forward and supported our investigation.

“I hope they can take some comfort from the fact their attacker is now starting a long prison sentence.

“I would urge anyone who’s suffered a sexual assault, or domestic abuse, to call us in confidence on the 101 number so we can take action.”
