A TRADITIONAL wassail will be held at the Lickey Hills’ Community Orchard between 4.30pm and 6pm tomorrow (Saturday).
Those going along to the event, which has been organised by the ranger team, should meet at the Lickey Hills Visitor Centre.
Everyone is welcome to the wassail, which is a centuries old rural tradition where people ‘made merry’ to ensure a good and bountiful harvest.
Local Appalachian dancing group ‘Step on Board’ will provide live music and those going along should wear warm clothes and wellies and take along something to make a noise with to ‘ward off evil spirits’ and their sense of humour.
Participants may also want to take a torch and some apple juice or cider to toast the health of the fruit trees.
The new wassail bowl funded by the Lickey Hills Society will be used for the first time.
