THERE will be plenty of free family fun on offer at Northfield Carnival tomorrow (Saturday).
The event runs from 12midday to 4.30pm in Victoria Common, behind Northfield Shopping Centre.
A short parade will travel through the centre, arriving at the carnival arena for 11.50am before the event is officially opened by Sophie Hunter and Dan Robinson from The Moonlight Roadshow.
Dan, who once sang in front of HM The Queen, and Sophie will then compere the afternoon of entertainment with several acts performing in the arena.
Each will have two slots each and among them will be Bromsgrove’s community Samba band Someone at the Door, a Gospel choir, Rockwood Dog Display, Elite Academy Dance gymnastics, West Midlands Police Brass Band, the Academy of Irish Dance, Funky Feet School of Dance and Northfield Caledonian Pipes and Drums.
Other attractions during the afternoon will include fairground rides and bouncy castles for the children, charity stalls selling a variety of items, tombolas, games, art activities and food and drink. That will include a hog roast, hot dogs and burgers and Carribbean food will also be available.
This is a special year for the event as 2014 marks the carnival’s 30th anniversary and organiser Tony Maslen said he hoped the marvellous milestone would be marked with a record attendance.
Last year more than 6,500 went along to Northfield Carnival.
