PLANS for North Bromsgrove High School’s First World War commemorations received a boost this week after a bronze plaque listing ten ex-pupils who died in the conflict was found after more than seven years.

The plate, which was feared lost, was relocated in the archive room, having been taken down and wrapped up in protective packaging, before being put in storage when the school moved to its new building in 2007.

As well as the bronze plaque, the school has uncovered registers dating back to when it first opened in 1905 as Bromsgrove County High School and research is also underway to find out more about those from the school who served in the Great War.

Headteacher David Hadley-Price said: “It’s great that we have located the bronze plaque so it can now be used as part of the First World War commemorations.”

The plan is to have the memorial unveiled as part of the special service on November 11.

Organisers also want any past pupils or people who think their ancestors went to North and served in the First World War to get in touch by emailing [email protected]
