Paving promise made to Bromsgrove residents

WORCESTERSHIRE County Council has moved to reassure residents that a section of the new High Street surface which was dug up so work could be carried out will be put back to the way it was.

We were contacted by Standard reader Tony Lawrence who sent us this picture.

He said: “Severn Trent Water is the first company to start ripping up new £2million High Street and have not restored it to its original block paving.

“As a taxpayer I’m disgusted with this and expect the council to demand Severn Trent rectify this and in future the council should monitor all future works.”

We contacted the authority which said Severn Trent had had to carry out the work to fix a blocked sewer pipe as a matter of urgency and the filling used was only a temporary measure.

A spokesperson confirmed in the coming days, the water provider would be putting the block paving back in to the standard it was before.
