ORGANISERS OF a rail tour are hoping it will be third time lucky after missing out again on stopping at Bromsgrove’s soon-to-open new railway station.
Pathfinder’s Ynes-Mons Express called at Bromsgrove on May 21 with the hope of using the new station, having missed out last year with another excursion, as the new £17.4million station wasn’t ready.
Peter Watts of Pathfinder Tours said “We had hoped the new station would be open for Saturday, but it wasn’t to be unfortunately.
“However, we are very excited that the station will be opening soon and we are planning to use it with future tours.”
The excursion was hauled by a diesel locomotive from Swindon to Crewe before a steam engine, number 46100 named Royal Scot, worked the tour to Holyhead in north Wales, and back to Crewe.
The diesel locomotive then worked the train back to Swindon.
Mr Watts added “We were very well supported by many good people joining at Bromsgrove and we are already looking forwards to our next visit.”
