SHOPPERS in Northfield were taken back to the Jurassic age when the town’s shopping centre was invaded by dinosaurs.
A tyrannosaurus rex, a stegosaurus and some diplodocuses have been bringing a whole host of dino-themed activities for the whole family to try(ceratops) every Thursday.
And there is still time for youngsters to enjoy the final summer dinosaur adventure club at Northfield Shopping Centre next Thursday (August 27), next to Dorothy Perkins.
The first day was about ‘dinosaur-ing’ yourself, featuring dinosaur face-painting, dinosaur masks and tails, and t-shirt printing.
The next Thursday saw a storyteller recount tales of the ancient animals that trekked the Triassic, journeyed the Jurassic, and crowded the Cretaceous.
Organiser Jo Ewart, director of Flamingo Entertainment, described the first event as a ‘gigantosaurus’ success.
She said: “We love running these events in Northfield Shopping Centre everyone is so friendly and welcoming and we have many regulars who come along to all the events and enjoy taking part.”
Emma Read, from Northfield, was at the first event with her three children, Peter, six, Kieran, seven, and Melissa, three.
She said: “I saw it on Facebook and decided to come along and they love it.”
Maturos Wray went along with her son Thomas, ten.
She said: “Thomas is a bit of a dinosaur expert and really enjoyed taking part.
“The fact it’s free entertainment when the school summer holidays are on is really good and I’m sure we will be back again for another one of the sessions.”
The last event this Thursday (August 27) will be a dinosaur creature show where participants will get the chance to handle the creepy crawlies that might have been around since the dinosaurs, as well as some similar in appearance to dinosaurs.
