PUPILS AT St Laurence Church Junior School in Northfield were able to find out more about democracy when their local MP paid them a visit as part of Parliament Week.
Richard Burden went to the school twice over the week, working with the children to explain how Parliament worked and how they could play a part in the governing of the country.
As part of the campaign to connect young people with politics and Parliament, the pupils were asked to discuss issues Mr Burden faced as an MP.
The children then created presentations in which they discussed possible solutions with Mr Burden, voting on what they thought was the best idea.
Mr Burden saw the visit as a great opportunity to encourage children to start thinking about politics and how they could get involved.
