STUDENTS from Bournville College are raising funds for Birmingham Women’s Hospital (BWH) with a pop-up pamper parlour at Northfield Shopping Centre on Tuesday (April 26).
A team of trainee hairdressers from the college will be collecting donations in exchange for free hair, beauty and nail treatments as well as children’s face painting.
The funds will be used to buy electronic tablets to keep children entertained in waiting rooms during family appointments at the hospital.
The centre of excellence provides specialist healthcare for women and their families.
Bournville College Hairdressing course team leader Becci Nicholls will oversee the event with her sister Pippa Clarke, a college technician.
Becci said: “This is a great opportunity for the Level 2 hairdressing students to get out and practice their skills and also help raise funds for charity.
She added: “Our students have previously been to the hospital’s special care unit to pamper the new mums, and we have also been to other hospitals and care homes to offer our services.”
Eileen Rock fundraising manager at BWH said: “We are very grateful to the students for arranging this, and to Northfield Shopping Centre for hosting the event.”
