A NORTHFIELD man has been jailed for five years after police found his home was ‘lettered with guns’.
Luke Moxam, of Merritts Hill, plead guilty to possession of firearms and ammunition at Birmingham Crown court on Friday (February 26).
When officers raided his house in January they found two revolvers hidden under his bed, another handgun in a safe and a sawn off shotgun wrapped in a bin bag in the kitchen cupboard.
PC Jon Chew, from Birmingham’s Violent Crime Team, said: “This has been a fast paced investigation that has seen several firearms taken off the streets.
“We are determined to rid the streets of guns and will expedite any investigation where firearms are involved.
“There is no excuse for holding a gun illegally and we will continue to disrupt the gangs who use these weapons and the networks who are behind the supply of them.
“We have lots of intelligence about firearms distribution in Birmingham and we are constantly acting on this information today’s result is evidence of that.
“The courts quite rightly take a tough stance on offenders who use deadly weapons. We will relentlessly pursue these people, seize their weapons and put them before a judge.”
In the last three months police have arrested more than 60 people for possession of firearms and 23 weapons have been seized.
