A NORTHFIELD funeral director has raised £500 for Macmillan Cancer Support when staff there took part in a World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

The team at Mortons, family members and friends donated home-made cakes and company chairman Miles Morton and managing director Derek Case undertook some blind tasting to judge who had come up with the tastiest creation.

Star baker Poppy Diprose received £25 for her excellent chocolate cake.

Everyone was made welcome to the event, which featured lots of tea, coffee, squash and biscuits as well as the cakes.

Youngsters who attended enjoyed a variety of entertainment, including giant pick-up sticks.

Sarah Case, assistant MD, said: “This our fourth annual coffee morning in aid of Macmillan and the team really put their hearts into it, giving freely their time (and baking skills) to make sure everyone enjoyed the event.”

“A great time was had, some new friendships made and the icing on the cake was £500 raised for Macmillan Cancer Support.”
