BUSINESSES across Bromsgrove are being urged to go to a networking event which is being held by an organisation formed to promote the north of the county.

Invest in North Worcestershire will start at 7.30am and finish by 9.15am next Thursday (March 19) at the town’s Avoncroft Museum.

It has been organised by the North Worcestershire Economic Development and Regeneration (NWEDR) which is campaigning and supporting businesses in the area, whilst also attracting investment into the area.

At the event, there will be a keynote speech from Steve Hollis, the deputy chair of the Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership, and a specially filmed video by Lord Digby Jones.

The meeting comes at a good time for North Worcestershire as research shows current and planned investment for the area, which covers Bromsgrove, Redditch and Wyre Forest, is set to total almost £350million.

Projects in Bromsgrove include the £17.4million building of the new railway station and permission for a £12million Extra Care village, as well as the proposed £11million new Dolphin Centre and the retail-led regeneration of the former market hall site.

Coun Mike Webb, whose portfolio on Bromsgrove District Council covers economic development, said North Worcestershire was the perfect place to do business and Bromsgrove, Kidderminster and Redditch offered something to meet the needs of all types of investors.

“We are perfectly positioned in the heart of the Midlands, and indeed the UK, and have strong links within the county and beyond to the Black Country and Birmingham conurbation.

“Through NWEDR we want to provide support to businesses, enabling them to invest and grow and, through the partnership, provide Bromsgrove with the best opportunities for economic growth.”

The event on March 19, which will also officially launch the NWEDR website, is free but places are limited so pre-booking is essential. E-mail [email protected] or call 01564 826653 to register.

Visit www.nwedr.org.uk for more information on the event and on services available to businesses and contacts for entrepreneurs wishing to start their own companies.

The website also showcases major commercial development sites and regeneration projects in North Worcestershire.
