STUDENTS from North Bromsgrove High School (NBHS) delivered a dazzling dance spectacular when they performed at Artrix last Friday.
As part of its dance engagement focus, Artrix has been working closely with local schools and colleges to offer students master classes with professional performers and opportunities to present their work.
Students from NBHS performed a spellbinding dance routine after a series of workshops with professional dance theatre company Motionhouse.
The group of students, from years nine and ten, explored themes such as claustrophobia, gangs and underground travel during a short but incredibly professional-looking site-specific interval performance in the Artrix foyer.
Danielle Bartlett, who is in charge of dance at NBHS said: “It was a wonderful experience to work with Motionhouse and to see the students coming together as one in their final performance.”
Fi Hay, Artrix’s Dance Engagement Worker said: “Working with Motionhouse has been a wonderful learning opportunity for these students and Artrix is delighted to be able to facilitate such partnerships.”
In November, South Bromsgrove High School and Heart of Worcestershire College worked with Hereford-based company, 2Faced Dance. Miriam Gee, head of Dance at South Bromsgrove High School, said: “The residency with 2Faced Dance was a memorable experience for all of the students completing our BTEC Dance course.”
