THE STANDARD has teamed up with the Aegon Classic – the world renowned tennis tournament which takes place in Birmingham in June – to find and reward Bromsgrove and Droitwich’s most inspirational women.

So, if you know a leading lady who has played a key role in shaping the local neighbourhood; or a pillar of the community that always strives to help others in need, then we want to hear from you.

The Aegon Classic brings the world’s top female players to Birmingham between June 9 and 15.

Therefore, the search is on to find the female figures that make Bromsgrove and Droitwich great.




Up for grabs is an all-expenses paid trip to the final of the Aegon Classic (Sunday, June 15) including transport and refreshments, as well as two of the best seats in the house.

Returning to Birmingham’s Edgbaston Priory Club for the 33rd year and upgraded to a WTA Premier Level event, the Aegon Classic is now one of the top 21 tennis events in the world – offering sporting fans in the Midlands the chance to see some top-rate tennis on their home turf.

FORMER world number one Ana Ivanovic is the latest player to confirm she will be taking part in the Aegon Classic.

The Serbian, 2008 Roland Garros champion and current world number 12 is set to hit the grass courts at Edgbaston Priory Club.

Ivanovic’s announcement comes as a charity exhibition match has been revealed for the final day at the Aegon Classic on (Sunday, June 15). The ‘Rally for Bally’ will see 18-time Grand Slam champion Martina Navratilova, Anne Keothavong, Tim Henman and Jamie Murray compete in a mixed-doubles exhibition match to raise money for the Elena Baltacha Academy of Tennis and the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
