THE NEW vicar of a Rubery church has spoken of her delight at taking up her new role and said she was looking forward to seeing how the ministry grows and develops in the coming years.
Revd Claire Turner became the new priest in charge at St Chad’s on September 4 after a joyful service attended by more than 150, including local people, along with her past colleagues and a full complement of clergy from the B45 Churches Together.
It was led by the Bishop of Birmingham, the Rt Revd David Urquhart, who was assisted by the Revd Hayward Osborne – the Archdeacon of Birmingham – and the Revd Melusi Sibanda, the Area Dean of King’s Norton Deanery.
Revd Turner said: “It’s been wonderful to meet both those who have been worshipping at St Chad’s for many years and people who have joined the church more recently and I’m looking forward to welcoming those who will no doubt come for the first time in the future.”
Before this, she worked in Wednesfield where she gained a lot of experience working with various arts communities.
The weekly worship takes place at 10am on Sunday mornings with other events, services and social activities taking place at other times.
There is a coffee morning next Saturday (September 20) between 10am and midday.
Anyone wanting to contact Revd Turner can email email@example.com or pop into the church on a Sunday.
